Three buildings in Cleveland use a back-pressureturbine/generator unit instead of a nearby pressure reducing valve (PRV) to providesteam at the necessary pressure and produce power. This harnesses availableenergy that would otherwise be wasted through the PRV. Additionally, steam thatexits the turbine/generator and isn’t needed for heating or domestic waterheating is returned to the steam distribution company’s medium pressuredistribution system.
