Building energy modeling is used throughout the design, construction and operation of a building. The level of detail of information available to inform model inputs varies by phase of design, and the appropriate level of detail varies depends on the purpose of the analysis. This seminar describes frameworks to define the level of detail appropriate for new construction and for existing buildings. This seminar also compares the level of detail for building energy models to building information models and provides examples of the impact of level of detail on energy modeling results.
