NY-87-01-4 — New Technology for VOC Emission Control

A new VOC control technology has been developed in Japan called KPR, which is very cost effective for control of VOC emissions from paint spray booths. KPR is based on an activated carbon fiber adsorbent, which preconcentrates the VOC emissions before final treatment by incineration or adsorption. Annual costs per ton of VOC emission controlled are substantially less than conventional technologies for VOC control. Results from installations of KPR will be discussed, with emphasis on automobile and agricultural equipment painting applications. Economic analysis of KPR system annual costs will be compared to other VOC control technologies.
