In Hot Summer and Cold Winter zone of China, the requirement of improving the indoor thermal environment in winter growsrapidly. However, meanwhile we put effort in improving the indoor comfort, energy conservation should be considered for theconstraints of total energy consumption. Ground source heat pump, as renewable energy technologies, are increasingly appearingto provide the indoor thermal environment for residential buildings in Hot Summer and Cold Winter zone. There are two mainkinds of terminal air-conditioning units for the GSHP systems in Hot Summer and Cold Winter zone. The two main terminalair-conditioning units are FCUs and radiant floors or panels. The use modes of different terminal units are different, which mayinfluence the energy consumption of GSHP systems. The field measurement and comparative analysis on the measurement dataand long-term monitoring data of two main kinds of terminal air-conditioning units are used to find the difference and the maininfluence factors. The results of the comparative analysis reveal that there is a significant difference for the heating/cooling demandand energy consumption for two kinds systems. The main influence factor contributing to the significant difference is operationand controls of residents. The systems with FCUs operate in part-time-part-space decentralized mode where resident turn on theheating and cooling only when they need. However, the systems with radiant terminal units operate in full-time-full-space centralmode for a much longer operating period. The difference of using different type AC units, such as FCUs and radiant floor, ishuge. It recommended designing the different capacity of the GSHP systems with different types of AC units. The further researchon the method of designing the GSHP systems is necessary.
