This session covers two different types of technologies, one of which is a large district heating and cooling (DHC) plant in Osaka. It covers 218,000 m² of office buildings, shopping malls and railway stations, with an annual operating COP of 1.3, which is one of the highest in Japan. Another is a new type of gas engine heat pump with a power-generating function, to be operated independently when the power supply is shut off. This function is important for areas where the power supply might be shut down suddenly and/or intentionally.
