This paper examines the design and operation of natural ventilation for improving the indoor thermal environment and reducing the thermal load. Numerical analyses of buoyancy driven ventilation in office buildings for the indoor temperature and thermal load are conducted by opening ratio calculation which was developed to reduce the time of low temperature environment in the previous study. In this paper, calculations are conducted under IO conditions with internal heat generation amount and the number of floors of the building as variables. The calculation results show that it is possible to suppress the occurrence of a low temperature environment by appropriately setting the effective opening area of the natural ventilation openings and the lower limit of outdoor temperature during the introduction of natural ventilation. In addition, the analysis results of the thermal load are shown by changing the effective opening area of the natural ventilation openings.
