Most homebuilders and residential ventilation system designers are only familiar with, and choose to employ, the continuous dwelling unit mechanical ventilation rate requirement of ASHRAE Standard 62.2. However, Standard 62.2 allows the ventilation rate to be varied under control options that will maintain, or even improve, indoor air quality while saving energy. This seminar explores this option under Standard 62.2 and presents both simulation and field measurement results for several potential strategies.
1. Development of Advanced Smart Ventilation Controls for Residential Applications
Iain Walker, PhD, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA
2. Real-Time Residential Ventilation Control with Estimated Infiltration
Lisa Ng, Ph.D., NIST, Gaithersburg, MD
3. Development and Field Testing of Approaches for Smart Ventilation Control in Residential Buildings
Eric Martin, FSEC Energy Research Center, Cocoa, FL
