Preface
This is the first edition of CSA B182.12, Profile polypropylene (PP) storm sewer pipe and fittings. This Standard is to be used in conjunction with CSA B181.0. This Standard will be incorporated into the eighth edition of the CSA B1800 compendium. CSA B181.0 provides requirements and test methods that are common to some or all of the Standards of the CSA B1800 compendium. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.
Scope 1.1
General This Standard specifies requirements for open profile polypropylene (PP) storm sewer pipe and fittings for leak-proof applications. Profile wall pipe includes only open profile with smooth interior and sizes based on controlled inside diameter. Open profile pipe is of an annular construction.
Notes: 1) Pipe and fittings manufactured in accordance with this Standard should be installed in accordance with CSA B182.11. 2) Refer to Annex A for recommended quality control test frequencies. 3) Refer to Annex B for base inside diameters. 4) Refer to Annex C for fitting patterns of the lay length of fittings covered by this Standard. 5) Annex D should be followed to ensure that the requested products are described adequately. 6) Annex E should be followed to ensure that the requested products are described adequately. 7) Appropriate structural design criteria for PP storm sewer pipe can be found in Appendix X2 of ASTM F2881/F2881M.
1.2 Terminology In this Standard, shall is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the Standard; should is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and may is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
