1. Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to complete flue-connected, oil-fired steam and/or hot-water boilers, provided with automatic control devices.
1.2
This Standard applies to low pressure boilers intended for commercial and industrial use having an input of, or in excess of, 3 gph (US) (approximately 400,000 Btuh) and to high pressure boilers regardless of intended use or input. Note: A low pressure boiler which has an input less than this l imit may be considered under this Standard, provided it is one of a series of boilers, differing only in size, and provided the other boilers in the series are within this limit.
1.3
This Standard applies to boilers, factory- or field- assembled, which have been, or could have been, completely assembled at the manufacturer’s plant and transported in the assembled condition.
1.4
This Standard also applies to oil-fired boilers which have gas-fired pilots and to those boilers which may be gas-fired as an alternative.
1.5
This Standard does not cover the devices required on the gas train of the boilers covered by Clause 1.4.
Note: These are covered by other recognized Standards.
1.6
A unit which differs from that contemplated by this Standard may be examined and tested according to the intent of the Standard.
1.7
A unit which otherwise complies with the requirements of this Standard will not necessarily be deemed as complying with the Standard if it has other, or combination of, features which, when examined and tested, are found to impair the result contemplated.
